Founded in 1796 as “the Place of Useful Learning”, Strathclyde is a leading international technological university in the heart of the city, proud winner of The Times Higher Education’s University of the Year 2019, The Sunday Times Good University Guide’s Scottish University of the Year 2020 and shortlisted for University of the Year in 2021.

Travelling to Glasgow

By train

Glasgow is well connected by train from across the UK by two main stations:

  • Glasgow Central Station links Glasgow to the South
  • Glasgow Queen Street Station operates routes mainly to Edinburgh and the North

By air

Glasgow has three international airports nearby, with connections across the UK and the world:

  • Glasgow Airport is the closest airport to the city centre. You can catch the express bus service from outside the terminal and arrive outside Queen Street Station which is a 10-minute walk to the TIC. The single fare is approximately £10. Depending on traffic, the journey time is around 20-30 minutes.
  • Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 32 miles (51km) from Glasgow. It is very accessible with train and bus services to the city centre. 
  • Edinburgh Airport is 39 miles (63km) from Glasgow. There is a direct bus service from the airport to Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus Station which takes around one hour. The walk from the bus station to the TIC takes only 10 minutes.
