VocBench Workshops: Part 3: VocBench Vocabulary Versioning and Data Catalogue

VocBench is a free and open-source web application to build ontologies, knowledge organization systems and lexicons using web standards such as OWL, SKOS/SKOS-XL and Onto-Lex. The three-part workshop series on VocBench is organized by ISKO UK Meetup team members in collaboration with Dr. Armando Stellato. The workshops are intended for those considering to use or who have just started using VocBench. We hope to build a community of VocBench users within the ISKO.

In this last interactive workshop in the VocBench series, we'll talk about managing versions of your vocabulary. We'll provide an instance for all participants to get the first-hand experience - you'll be able to use a preloaded vocabulary to play along or bring your own.

Speakers:

Armando Stellato is Assistant Professor at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, where he carries on research and teaching in the fields of Knowledge Representation and Knowledge Based Systems. Armando has also been consultant at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations as Semantic Architect, working on all aspects related to maintenance and publication of FAO RDF vocabularies and on the development of VocBench: an Application for Collaborative Management of RDF Vocabularies. Currently he is leading the VocBench3 project, funded by the ISA2 programme of the EU.

Phil Stacey works for Barratt Homes implementing document management and fire safety in the southern counties division. Phil has over 25 years experience in the construction industry working in design and information management. He is passionate about realising the business benefit structured data and the benefits BIM (Building Information Modeling) software can deliver through its implementation at scale, across the housing sector.

Eugene Morozov is a technology consultant working with financial services firms on data governance and data management projects. Interested in the use of linked data to improve reference data management, architecture modelling and regulatory compliance, he used SKOS and VocBench to develop enterprise architecture vocabulary in his last assignment. He also runs the Semantic Web London meetup.
