ISKO General Assembly 2018 Outcomes

A sparkling rejuvenation of ISKO is well under way, thanks to the action-packed General Assembly during ISKO's Biennial Conference in Porto this July. Newly elected Executive Board members are:

TBCL2018 online registration now open

An advance programme for the Taxonomy Boot Camp London is now available, showing Helen Lippell in the Chair again, with keynote speakers Paul Rissen and Tom Reamy. Registration is open, and early bird discounts apply until 14th September. Go to the TBCL website for more details.

Conference Grant Awarded to Dr Deborah Lee.

One of the delights of ISKO’s operations is being able to support early stage researchers in their work on Knowledge Organization through a series of grants helping them undertake elements of their work.

Clare Beghtol - sad news

Students of classification will be saddened to hear that one of our foremost scholars, Clare Beghtol, died in her sleep on 3rd March this year. As well as contributing extensively and inspiringly to the literature of our field, Clare was ISKO's President in 1998-2002. She will be remembered with affection by many. You can see a brief obituary, and a lovely photo of her, on the University of Toronto website.

David Haynes in Hot Seat

As of 14th March 2017, David Haynes has been elected to the Chair of ISKO-UK. With a long, strong track record in KO practice, research, teaching and consultancy, David is already leading preparations for the ISKO UK conference in September. Watch this space for more news.
