ISKO UK Conference 2011
The theme “Facets of Knowledge Organization” and the memory of Brian C Vickery stimulated 117 people to attend ISKO-UK’s second biennial conference, held on 4-5 July 2011. The 28 presentations and 6 posters picked up many threads of Vickery’s prolific legacy, woven together in an illustration of networking at its most productive.
Please look at the Programme on this website to find downloadable files associated with each of the presentations. Abstracts, full papers, PowerPoint files and audio recordings are being added progressively as they become available. Publication of the commemorative printed Proceedings is scheduled for September 2011.
“Our tasks are to make knowledge (whether organised or unorganised) available to those who seek it, to store it in an accessible way, and to provide tools and procedures that make it easier for people to find what they seek in those stores”, said Vickery in an article “On knowledge organization” that he wrote just a year before his death at the age of 91 in 2009. During Facets of Knowledge Organization new light has been cast on all these tasks.
